Let me start off by Saying”Ha Ha Ha I told you so Duck! Why you Ducking me?” If you missed my blog last week my friend Duck lost $100 to me on a bet who would get drafted first Teabow or Colt McCoy. My superior college football knowledge prevailed once again!
Now on to the words Rangers fans don’t want to hear” It’s over!” I am making the declaration the 2010 Texas Rangers are done and it’s not even May yet! I know they are only 3 games out of first. I know it’s early in the season. I know it’s a long season. I know every baseball excuse cliché you want to throw at me and I’m still not buying what they are selling!
Growing up in Texas I have learned to be skeptical going into spring training. I got burned way to many times by Scott Fletcher, Pete O’Brien, Ruben Seria and Charlie Hough back in the day. Now I always have the glass half empty attitude when thinking about my favorite baseball team.
This year was different! There was no way my favorite team of under achievers would let me down in 2010!
The Ranger sign Rich Harden. I get it Rich! You won’t pitch 200 but you’ll be a solid pitcher. Vlad is 80 but can still hit another good move by the Rangers. Mix all that in with a young solid core coming back and this team looks like the best in the West to me before the season starts. However that’s not the case.
The season started and reality set in. The only two bright spots this season have been CJ “straight edge society” Wilson and Nelly Cruz. Nelly is putting up MVP type numbers but. he was just placed on the 15 day DL! Add that to the fact we haven’t had Kinsler all year due to injury and I am begging to believe this is a curse season. The kind of season you’ll tell your grandkids about after the Rangers win the World Series in 2030.” Son let me tell you I remember when the Rangers sucked so bad in 2010 but I was still a fan.”
Nagging injuries, bad pitching and horrible coaching sure looks like it is going to do this team in! Up until I haven’t mention the Rangers Cool brother from another mother manager that likes to dabble with the white lady but now I have. He is the worst manager in MLB. He should pull a George Costanza and do the exact opposite of every decision he wants to make in game then he could be the next Tony LaRussa instead of the next Lou Brown.
Don’t get me wrong, I still love my Texas Rangers and will be in attendance at tonight’s game. The only difference is I am going for $1 hot dog night not to watch Rich Harden throw 90 pitches in 3 innings.
Being a Ranger Fan in 2010 is going to be tough. I have suffered through season like this before and I am sure I will again! Play em out and give em hell Rangers! The 2011 Season opener is only 11 months away.
This is my old Sports blog, now I am just sharing my thoughts on things. Random as I want to be

Tebow before McCoy
Sitting here on NFL Draft Eve I cant help thinking about a bet I made two weeks into last year's college football season. The bet was $100 with "The Duck" that Tim Tebow gets drafted before Colt McCoy. Go ahead and save the hate mail Texas Fan! I am one of the biggest Texas homers on the planet. During the Big 12 championship game I don't think two people were yelling at a TV louder then Eric The Migler Ringler and myself. Don't believe me? Just ask John Conner!
So as a self respecting Texas fan how can I make this bet? Simple it doesn't seem like gambling if you know you're going to win and I had this bet won in September!
I think Colt is more pro ready then Timmy. I think Colt has had a better spring then Timmy. I think you can realistically argue Colt should be the #2 quarterback on most draft boards behind Bradford. Yet all this doesn't matter Florida's Golden Boy still goes first. Why? It's easy he sells!
Colt was a great College qb, and is very marketable in Texas.( Did you read that Jerry?) On a national level Tebow has more selling power and hype. He will equal big time dollar bills! Tebow becomes the talk of the town no matter where he winds up. Tebow will be a bigger name and get more press coverage then a #1 , if he is not a # 1.
All the mock drafts have Tebow going 2nd-3rd round. Mock draft smock draft! Those dumb things are all based on stupid stuff like a player's skill or team needs(insert sarcasm here). What they really should base the mock draft on is this: How many more tickets does a team sell with player x on it? How many jerseys does a team sell with player x's name on it? How many more ways can we whore out this guy? In Tebow's case it's a lot more!
If you only took Tebow's skill level he would be no better then a 4th round pick. We all know his problems so I won't go into them here. Colt's skill level should have him going in the late first or early second. Neither one of these things will happen. I see an east coast team like The Panthers reaching for Tebow way to early. Possibly trading up to get their man. I could of said the Jags, but that's to easy. Also don't rule out the Raiders. If there is a team that will reach and screw up their draft then the silver and black is that team.
So where does that leave Colt? Look for Colt to go somewhere between 70-80 in the draft. Cleveland,Buffalo, San Francisco and Denver all have a qb need with a draft pick in that area. Also it wouldn't surprise in the least if the much hated Redskins trade up to get their QB of the future here. They could groom him under McNabb for a couple of years until he's ready.
Happy draft watching bishes! BTW how effn stupid is it to have the draft start on a Thursday this year? The NFL/ESPN greed monster is running wild!

Chicks and Picks Don't Mix
The majestic pony thoroughbreds are getting ready to run at Lone Star Park (LSP) in Grand Prairie again! There’s nothing like the thrill of standing on the start/finish line yelling your lungs out and watching your trifecta get blown down the backstretch.
I want to tell you about some important dates at LSP but before I do, let me give you this warning: DO NOT TAKE YOUR GIRLFRIENDS with you to the track! Send them out with their girl friends for a girl’s night, but I repeat, DO NOT take them with you! I know it sounds like a good idea on paper, but don’t be a sucker! Here are some real life examples of what could happen to you, if you did choose to bring them.
When I was dating a young Texas lady named Leigh, about a month into the relationship, we decided to go to Lone Star Park. On that gorgeous Saturday in May, my wager tickets were on fire! I couldn’t lose! I picked 5 winners in a row and hit two trifectas. Well, my new female friend was bored after the 5th race and wanted to go eat somewhere else. I tried to explain to her, you don’t walk away from the track on a hot streak like the one I was on and that Lone Star has great food. Unfortunately, she wasn’t buying what I was selling and after a bit of protest from me, we left. She took me from a “can’t lose situation” to a “can’t win one in less time than it takes to run the Kentucky Derby.” She ruined my hot streak, my day, and our relationship the minute she got “bored” and cranky!
Then there was the Courtney’s Father’s “incident.” Courtney decided I should meet her father for the first time at the track. This was not one of her best ideas and agreeing to this certainly wasn’t one of mine. I won’t go into all the details of what went wrong, but Courtney and I rode to the track together and she rode home with her dad. Another one bites the dust!
Heather talked me out of betting $300 on a great 5-1 that won. Then I told Heather I needed some time and space.
Amber said it was too hot. (Um, then I told Amber that we could just be friends.)
Melissa joined PETA after an evening at the track with me. She didn’t understand what I meant when I said “They need to send that Horse to the Glue Factory.” After I explained to her what that meant, she was not a happy Lissa.
As fun as Lone Star Park can be, it IS hazardous on relationships. Get it? You’ve been warned!
Here are the dates you should know for the 2010 Spring Thoroughbred Season:
• 2010 Spring Thoroughbred Season 4/8-7/18.
• Wednesdays in April are $1.00 hot dog nights.
• 4/30 Stoney Larue live in concert.
• 5/1 Derby Day.
• 6/25 Casey Donahew Band live in concert.
C-Yah at the Track! The horses are ready- ARE YOU?
