Who is Justin Grimm?

Due to injuries on Saturday the Texas Rangers will wheel out a young pitcher by the name of Justin Grimm to take on the Houston Astros in the "prestigious" Silver Boot Series. Who is this Justin Grimm?

Justin Grimm is 23 years old.

Justin Grimm has been pitching for the Frisco Roughriders the Texas Rangers AA affiliate this season.

Justin Grimm is 8-3 with a 1.87 ERA in 13 starts. Justin Grimm has 67 strikeouts against only 14 walks, and opponents are batting .228 against him.

Justin Grimm was a fifth-round draft pick in 2010 out of the University of Georgia.

Justin Grimm was 7-3 with a 3.39 ERA in 25 starts split between Class A Hickory and
Myrtle Beach in 2011.

Here are some Justin Grimm Facts

The movie "8 Men Out" is actually based on Justin Grimm's first 7 batters he faced in AA Frisco. The 8th man dropped his bat in the on-deck circle and went back to the dugout. This was the first intentional out in AA History.

Justin Grimm has 99 problems but a pitch ain't one

Chuck Norris jokes are based on Justin Grimm's reality

Justin Grimm once throw a pitch so perfectly it counted as two strikes.

Justin Grimm is Scott Boras agent.

The Rangers general manager Jon Daniels had this to say Thursday "We're going to put our best guys out there if they're ready to help us win. We feel Justin
is. We're trying to win ballgames. We wouldn't call up Justin if we
didn't think he could help us."

Major League Texas Rangers

As Rangers' fans, we had the opportunity to enjoy a really short off-season for once. How great was that? Now as the Rangers get ready to open up Spring Training you need to be warned...do not expect anything!

Last year the Rangers made the World Series for the first time in franchise history. It only took them 38 years to do it. Being a realist, there is no way I expect the same thing this year. There are way too many questions and way too much turmoil going on for the Rangers to be expected to give us a World Series run again.

We all know the Rangers lost out on Cliff Lee. Who is going to fill his shoes as the team’s ace? Colby Lewis? CJ Wilson? Gentleman, I know Cliff Lee and you guys are no Cliff Lee. I didn’t even mention CJ had a career high in innings pitched last year. The last time CJ pitched 200+ innings, he had Tommy John surgery the next year. How much does he have left in his arm going into this season? Can he give the team another 200+ season?

What does former Cy Young award winner Brandon Webb have left?

Michael Young is all pissed off again because the Rangers asked him to do “What’s best for the team.” That has to be bad for both locker room moral and team chemistry.

Speaking of chemistry, how is Adrian Beltre going to fit in? He has been known to be a disruptive force in places.

Last year going into the 2010 baseball season, expectations were very low. As a matter of fact, most people picked the Rangers to finish last in the AL West. Quoting the great Lou Brown from Major League "They gave the national media a great big S#!T Burger to eat."

This year the feeling is different and expectations are much higher. This off-season has been all about business. Last year, it seemed like the guys were having fun. I mean who didn’t love the claw and antlers? They didn’t know they shouldn’t be playing that well so as a result they had fun, they won, and it was that simple.

Going into the 2011 season, the Texas Rangers remind me of the awful Lou Brown sequel, Major League II. Do you remember Wild Thing forgetting how to pitch? Do you remember the big name free agent coming in and ruining the chemistry? Do you remember the attitude of the little team who could changing? The similarities are quite spooky. I think the Texas Rangers had a little bit of success last year, and it went to all of their heads in this off-season. Now it’s time for a reality check. I just pray that they don’t get off to bad start come April. If they do stumble out of the gates, it could be Major League 3: Back to the Minors!

Scattershooting

Scattershooting While wondering whatever happen to Tatu . On the Dawn of the World Cup I can’t help but wonder what happen to my beloved Dallas Sidekicks and their fearless shirtless leader!

Ok Strasburgh is the next big thing! 14k’s and no walks in his first start. Pretty good eh? The Nationals also drafted Bryce Harper this week and really have been dominating the baseball headlines. I am going to go ahead and make the declaration that your Washington Nationals will win the World Series in 2014! That is if The Mayan Calendar is wrong and our world doesn’t end in 2012.

Beware of 3 American league teams that seem ready to make a push. The Mariners, Blue Jays and White Sox all can get hot and surprise some people this summer. The Jays will have the toughest road playing in the most competitive division in baseball. Their young pitching staff has The Eye of the Tiger and looks hungry! They have to hope Adam Lind’s bat comes around and all the other AL EAST teams really wear each other down the stretch but look for them to be in the Wild Card race. Seattle needs a bat! If they can stay within 5 games at the deadline look for them to go get one. The AL West is wide open. The Chi-town Sox have to much talent to be under achieving! Ozzie Guillen will be fired if his team is not in the post season. He will have to motivate the Sox in his own special angry mexican way to get them rolling.

Big 12,Pac 10, Big 10! There is nothing wrong with the Big 12! Leave it be! Get rid of The BCS and let’s set up a playoff system. That should be the real issue in college football right now! Not this team is being recruited by so and so. Everyone just stay put! Two Words for you NCAA Football- Freaking PLAYOFFS!

I guess all eyes in the basketball world are on LeBron. It’s a shame we have a pretty decent final going on right now too. Let me solve this mystery for you. LeBron to The Bulls on July 1. Can we move on to the next topic?
