Wake Up Cowboys' Fan

All I have read or heard since the Jerry Jones Dallas Cowboys lost to the New York Giants on New Years Day is Jerry needs to hire a GM. As much as I agree with the popular opinion, I've accepted the fact it is never going to happen. So I am moving on and I suggest you do the same. Yes I am calling for a Cowboys Boycott.

I can not take the Cowboys wallowing in mediocrity anymore! It's been this way for years now and we need a change that is not going to happen. So here's the deal, I am not going to support them anymore. I'm not going to games,I'm not going to buy merch,I'm not even going to watch them on tv unless it has some impact to my fantasy team. It's tough love at its roughest. I feel like I am going through a divorce after 33 years. I am using irreconcilable differences as my reason. I want to see the Cowboys win a Super Bowl and Jerry just wants to make more money.

Now separation is always tough. I put a lot of thought and consideration into this before I made my decision. I finally came up with if Jerry Jones isn't committed to winning then I'm not committing to be a Cowboys fan any longer. It's a New Year time for a fresh start. Sorry Jerry in the words of the great Kenny Powers " You are F'N out!"

I do realize if I ever want to see the Cowboys win again we as Cowboys fans have to hit the egotistical narcissist that runs them where it hurts. That would be his pride and in his checkbook. Can you imagine how embarrassed he would be if there was a national televised game at the billion dollar big green house and the audience looked like a Dallas Stars crowd? It would get a point across.

Now if you listen to Jerry he'll tell you he won 3 Super Bowls as GM. I think we all know that's not true. When I hear him spit out that garbage it makes me want to vomit! It reminds of that scene in the movie Waiting where Justin Long's character quits.

As tempting as it maybe I'm not going to just jump in bed with the next team that comes along. I just got back from New Orleans and the Saints did their best to court me. However I am just not ready for anything new yet. I need some alone time. It's not the Saints, it's me.

Now you may not see me wearing another NFL team's gear in 2012 but you damn sure will not see me sporting any Cowboys gear either. Matter of fact I may use all my Dallas Cowboys stuff to start a huge bonfire. Sorry Jerry, but this is where this Cowboys fan rides away!

I'm not a Cowboys Hater but

I'm not a Cowboys hater as Marie, the publisher of The Burb, calls me in this month's issue. I am a Cowboys realist. The sad reality is that Jerry Jones is making it harder and harder to be a Cowboys fan these days. I grew up in a suburb of Dallas, Texas and could not imagine ever rooting for another NFL team...but damn that Jerry for making it harder to stay loyal to my team. We should have seen the writing on the wall when he fired Jimmy years ago. Then came one of the most embarrassing moments in franchise history...when he snatched the Lombardi Trophy out of Barry Switzer's hands in the Super Bowl XXX Post-Game Show. Smiling egotistically, Jerry Jones aka the Anti-Christ of football, is the owner of the Dallas Cowboys. Every year we are fed false promises and lies about what this team is, and has been. Jerry is one of the most narcissistic owners ever in sports, and he is our owner.

This franchise was once great, but now it's just a shell of its former self, and there is no one to blame but Jerry Jones. As kids, we were all taught how great the Cowboys were in the 70's, and we watched with our own eyes as they won three Super Bowls in the 90's. That's when we had to start watching Jerry make one wrong move after another, thinking other NFL Franchises would just lay down for America's Team. Of course, it didn't quite happen that way.

Jerry brought in great coaches like Barry Switzer, Chan Gailey, and my favorite Dave Campo, to piss all over Tom Landry's legacy. Jerry let us, the tried and true Cowboys fans, suffer while he kept his eye on the prize. That prize being the Billion Dollar Green House in Arlington. He has gotten drunk with power and has said the only reason he brought in a real coach, aka Bill Parcells, is so that he could get the deal approved. Case-in-point, as soon as the Big Tuna is gone, we get Wade "golly gee" Phillips.

The bottom-line here is that Jerry doesn't care about us, us being the die-hard Cowboys fans I've been speaking of, or the product his team puts out on the field. He only cares about the bottom-line dollar, and that leaves all of us Cowboys fans suffering in the meantime.

As I have warned you in previous blogs, you should prepare yourself for 6-10 in 2011! Guess what? Jerry couldn't care less...just make sure you go see the team lose live at Jones World.

I look at myself in the mirror everyday as a Cowboys fan and I ask myself why is it that I'm still a fan. It's just getting tougher and tougher to come up with an answer now. I sincerely hope that I am wrong, and that the Cowboys win the Super Bowl in 2012, but history says that's not going to happen folks. History also says I will keep buying Cowboys' merch and cheering them on even if I don't know why.

The reason why I support an owner who doesn't support me escapes me, but I do. Go Cowboys... Suck it Jerry Jones!

Prepare for 6-10

I have accepted the challenge and will take on this tremendous burden to be the bearer of bad news here on BigBadSportsDaddy.com. The news is that our own Dallas Cowboys are going to suck both this year and next! Sorry, but it’s true, damn true!

So as we prepare to break an all-time heat wave record here in DFW, the Dallas Cowboys are wrapping up training camp in San Antonio as they prepare for the upcoming 2011 season. Even though we have had a turbulent off-season, it looks like it's business as usual for the Dallas Cowboys. For example you have Jerry Jones with his eternal optimism that the Cowboys are going to win the Super Bowl again like it is the year 1995, you have new Head Coach Jason Garrett telling the media what they want to hear, and not to mention our new Defensive Coordinator Rex Ryan (whose dad Buddy is still Cowboys public enemy #1 by the way) making national news talking smack about the Eagles.
To the Eagles, huh Rex? Do you think that's really a good idea? The Eagles who went out and inked every Defensive Free Agent under the sun, and then traded for more. The Eagles whose QB is a hardcore puppy killing convict. To the Eagles, the team that will dominate the NFC East in 2011. Giving the Eagles bulletin board material in training camp is an even worst idea than calling Chuck Norris a puss.

Fact...the Eagles and Cowboys hate each other enough already! Fact...the Eagles did everything they needed to do in 2011 to improve their pathetic no trophy having franchise while America’s team did nothing. Fact...this season is going to get ugly for Cowboys fans.
The popular opinion with both hardcore homer Cowboys fans and national media alike is that Tony Romo will be the Cowboys' savior in 2011. Where did this come from? Tony Romo is a glorified Chris Miller. T-Rom as D-Bags like to call him, is just good enough to keep his job but not good enough to get the job done. Is he better than what we had last year? Of Course! Is he an elite NFL QB? Hell no...not even close!
The O-line could be five fat girls at a Hanson concert and nobody would know the difference. The Running Back situation is a huge cluster F! The D has more problems than the USA credit rating. Overall, if I were grading this team, I would give them a D for Disaster.
If you are a Cowboys fan, then you need to prepare for what looks to be a 6-10 season. If you are like me, you should do some extra fantasy research. Mark my words and take my advice hardcore football fan...your Fantasy team will be your only distraction from The Dallas Cowboys suckiness in 2011.

Steelers > Cowboys

This blog may be the most painful thing I have ever had to write in my life. With the 2011 Super Bowl less then two weeks away, and the 2010 NFL season damn near in the books, I have had to accept a cold hard fact as a Cowboys' fan. That fact is that The Pittsburgh Steelers are a better franchise then the Dallas Cowboys, right here and now. There is only one man to blame for this. Jerry this is all your fault! I’ll have more on the Jerry later.
Before the Texas Lynch Mob shows up at my doorstep with pitchforks and torches, please allow me to explain. As a die hard Cowboys fan, I had been taught at an early age, that the Cowboys are the best franchise in all of sports. Sorry Yankees' fans but it’s true, or at least it used to be true. The Cowboys are football. The Cowboys are America’s team. The Cowboys are a shell of their former selves and pathetic.
Growing up in Dallas, it was easy to see why the Cowboys were Football Gods. I got to watch Tom Landry have his last few good years, but then unfortunately, I had to watch a couple of bad ones. I was at just the right impressionable young age when the 90’s Cowboys made their Super Bowl runs. I got to watch Jimmy assemble the greatest football team ever, only to then suffer and watch that team crumble at the hands of a power hungry egotistical dick-tator (Yes I misspelled that on purpose)!
As The Steelers enter their third Super Bowl in six years, it is obvious they are the kings of the football world these days. Sorry Colts and Pats but your day is done. The Steelers are now what the Patriots were in early 2000s,what the Cowboys were in the 90’s,what the 49ers were in the 80s, and what the Steelers were in the 70’s. Wait...was one team on that list twice?
In the 70’s the Steelers were the franchise. They captured four of their six rings in that decade. Yeah that’s right, six rings! The Cowboys have five so that's a point for the Steelers. Even in their two head-to-head Super Bowl match ups in the 70’s, the Steelers were 2-0 vs The Cowboys. Look at the Scoreboard and you'll see it says 2-0 Steelers. Even though the Cowboys got a little redemption in the 90’s with their SB XXX win over Pitt, the overall Super Bowl record is at 2-1 Steelers.
Then there was the ring argument. For ten years the Cowboys could say they had more rings than any other franchise in the National Football League. The Boys had five while the Steelers and 49ers had four. Of course the Cowboys had the most! They were...well the Dallas Cowboys! From 1996-2006 the Cowboys had the rings, but in 2006 the Steelers tied them at five. Then in 2009 the Steelers got their unprecedented sixth! Scoreboard Steelers.

The one last argument a Cowboys fan had was that at least the Cowboys have been to more Super Bowls than any other franchise. Well as of 2011, not anymore. The Steelers come to Dallas' home turf to play in their eighth Super Bowl, and tie the Cowboys. It is a very sad day in Cowboy land.

With all the facts on the table it is easy to see the Steelers are the better franchise. Well at least the Cowboys Quarterback isn’t a serial rapist. Point Cowboys. Seriously Metroplex ladies load up on the mace. Big Ben is coming to town!

Breaking News Flash: Dallas also has hotter Women then Pittsburgh! Point Dallas;)Now back to the football blog.

Jerry Jones has single-handedly taken the Greatest NFL Franchise and ruined them. The Steelers have had three coaches in forty years; meanwhile the Cowboys have had three coaches in the last five years. The Steelers are setting an example for the rest of the NFL to follow. If something goes wrong the Steelers don’t fire everybody and start over, they talk to the folks they have in place and fix it. In 1998 Bill Cowher’s Pittsburgh team was 7-9 and in 1999 they were 6-10. Do you think a Dallas Cowboys coach would have gotten another season? Hell No!

Don't get me wrong, I still hate the Steelers, but this Cowboys fan has accepted reality. The reality being that the Pittsburgh Steelers are the greatest franchise in the NFL.

Big Bad Best Bets

Short and sweet Big Bad Sports Daddy's own Professor L-Train(That's Me) is 5-1 ATS in College football in 2010 and 14-0 straight up! NFL I started out last week 1-1. There is not a hotter college football handicapper anywhere in the country as we speak! I am also giving you my picks for free! Why? Because I can!

Arkansas + 2.5 over Georgia

Yes The Hogs are the travel team but have you seen them play? The Razorbacks are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 SEC games. Georgia is unsure if they will have the nations top receiver back or not. I also don't think The Bulldogs D can contain Mallet. Take the Hogs and The points and look for them to win straight up

Nebraska -3.5 over Washington

Nebraska has one of the best secondaries in the nation and a great pass rush. Look for the future 1st rounder Jake Locker to struggle against this D. He simply doesn't have enough help. Nebraska 6-1-1 ATS in their last 6 non conference games. Bet em big!

Tennessee + 14 over Florida

Last year in Florida with little timmy Tebow the Gators only won by the score of 23-13. 14 is way to much to lay to Tennessee in Tenn. Take the VOLS and the points and hope there isn't another long delay to slow them down

NFL

This will probably be the only time I do this all season! I like 3 Road Dogs this week and one you can take to the bank

Chicago +9 over Dallas
This game is in Dallas but did you watch them play on Sunday Night? The Cowboys Offense looked awful! I am not sure if they can manage to score 9 points much less cover 9! Bet Bears.

New England -2.5 over NY JETS

Forget about it! If the Dallas Offense sucks then I don't have the words to start describing the JETS. There D is good but so is the Pats Offensive attack. Pats still this one in The Big Apple and cover no problem

Monday Night

New Orleans -5.5 over San Francisco

The Saints picked up right where they left off on Thursday night vs. The Vikings. The 49ers still have Alex Smith as their starting OB. Enough said! Bet Saints

Jason Garrett Sucks!

Jason Garrett Sucks! That is all! By the way do you want to know what he has for The Bears Ass this week? Here! The Redheaded Play Slut has personally promised me you will be seeing all of these plays this week in the Cowboys repertoire!

Dallas Mediocrity

Being A Dallas Sports fan has been painful for the last few years. Hell to tell you the truth it's been the past decade. The last championship any Metroplex team won was in 1999 when The Stars beat the Buffalo Sabres in the NHL Stanley Cup finals. Other then that Thank God for the Longhorns or it would really have sucked to be a sports fan in Tejas.

It is a shame but in Dallas pretty good is getting to be the norm. The Dallas Cowboys are pretty good,The Dallas Mavericks are pretty good, The Texas Rangers are pretty good, the Dallas Stars well let's face it none cares about the Dallas Stars. The Dallas Teams are all just good enough to make the playoffs then exit early.
As a Dallas fan I have accepted the fact our teams are pretty good. Believe me it's hard to go through a season knowing that your team is good but not quite good enough to be great. Matter of fact it's torture.

The only reason I bring this up is because I am hearing a lot of Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl talk. As much as I hate to admit it The Dallas Cowboys are not going to the Super Bowl. I am not even 100% sure The Cowboys are the best team in the NFC EAST. What I am sure of is the Eagles will be the worst. I know cheap shoot but man I hate those Eagles! I really hope they go 0-16! Suck it Eagles Fan.

As long as Wade and Jason are here the Cowboys will not even sniff the big game. Wade is a great Defensive Coordinator but not a Head Coach. I think it's safe to say his place is the world is running a defense not being the man.

Jason Garrett damn! Why didn't he go to Baltimore when he had the chance? I think we can all agree he has worn out his welcome here in Dallas yet again! Sorry Princeton Man but it's true. Does anyone else have visions of Madden when watching a Cowboys game? Next thing we know they will cut their punter and go for it on ever 4th down. Really Jason Garrett maybe to smart to run a offense. Instead of keeping it simple he insist on tricking everything up. I think he out thinks himself more so then gets out coached. It's not the worst problem to have but still a problem.

With these two knuckleheads in place on the Dallas Coaching Staff I have accepted the fact that in 2010 The Dallas Cowboys will be pretty good. Yes, I will still be upset and pissed when they lose but none the less I know what they are and that's a pretty good team. Even though the talent is there the coaching isn't and that means The Cowboys are a what? Pretty Good!

Shame on you Texas Rangers! Back in late May I wrote a blog saying that I didn't think this was your year. However during the dog days of summer I bought into what you were selling. I was drinking the Red Kool-Aide you were serving up by the gallons. It was helping me stay cool in this Texas heat! I think it's safe to say The Rangers had the whole entire DFW area fooled and most of Baseball America. They looked like they were legitimate contenders to represent the American League in the World Series in 2010. Now in Early September with injuries and bad play they look like a pretty good team. I know baseball is streaky sport but you don't want to be on a losing streak going into the playoffs. With no way to avoid a strong team from the East in the playoffs it is time to accept the fact that the 2010 Texas Rangers are nothing more then a pretty good team. Once again they got us to football season.

After the 2006 & 2007 season I think we all learned that these Mavericks will be nothing more then a pretty good basketball team. Once again Dallas Fans must suffer that just not quite good enough disappointment.

After watching Dallas Sports failures over and over again for the past 10 years the Dallas Sports fan has went to expecting Championships to expecting pretty good. And expecting pretty good with no hope for a championship is just well pretty sad.

Whoops I forgot

“I forgot to call the Bullpen and get Feliz up” is what Ron Washington said after the Rangers extra inning loss to the A’s on Tuesday night. That statement alone should be enough to get him fired and ran out of town but it won’t.

Ron not getting Feliz could be the biggest mistake in Dallas Sports since The Duck not paying me for our draft day bet! He’s been avoiding me for 3 weeks now. Where is my m-effn money?

Now back to Ron “Whitelady” Washington. It seems that our baseball manager isn’t really focused on baseball. How in the hell do you forget to call the bullpen and get your closer up when you are playing for first place in the West? Ron what are you doing while you are supposed to be managing our Texas Rangers? I guess you don’t need to worry about your job since no one knows who owns the team right now anyways. Huh Ron? Nolan why are you putting up with this?

Like I said earlier this year this Ranger team is going no where! They lack the heart and leadership it takes to play deep into October. Sorry Ranger fan! Hey Rangers please stay competitive until the Cowboys start training camp.

Speaking of the Cowboys Wade Phillips is an idiot too! I never thought Jerry would ever hire a coach that made me wish for Barry Switzer back, but he did. Wade is a good Defensive Coordinator and horrible head coach.

Jerry your ego is getting in the way of the Cowboys going to the Super Bowl. Mr. Jones let me mess you up with some truth! You with Jimmy 3 Super Bowls in four years. Yes I am counting the Switzer win too because Howdy Dowdy could of coached that team to a Super Bowl win. You in 15 years with out Jimmy 0 Super Bowls. Jerry you are an egotistical DBAG! You are ruining football for the city of Dallas! Get over yourself and go get a real coach.

We were Cowboys fans before you got here and we will be Cowboys fans long after your gone! Do us a favor and step back and let a true football guy run our team. Jerry if you get bored we have an opening in our fantasy football money league. Would love to have you come play with us.

Sound off it’s Larry@bigbadsportsdaddy.com
